Tavernole sul Mella is a municipality of about 1,200 inhabitants in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. Located in the Alta Valle Trompia (Upper Trompia Valley), Tavernole is home to two unique hamlets: Cimmo to the west and Pezzoro to the northwest. The area has several tourist attractions, from the Rifugio CAI Val Trompia in Pontogna to the Agriturismo Pesei, both of which can be reached via the many walking paths available. Other characteristic destinations are the San Filastrio Complex, one of the best examples of medieval architecture in Valle Trompia, which includes the church and the oratory of San Domenico, and preserves a valuable 15th-century painting cycle attributed to the Bembo workshop of Cremona. There is also the “Il Forno” Museum, one of the most celebrated monuments of industrial archaeology, active since the 15th century: an ancient and majestic “cathedral of work.”
