Monte Guglielmo

Important tourist and sporting destination

Monte Guglielmo, a grassy expanse of great naturalistic, religious, economic and social value, is by far the most popular and loved mountain in Brescia. This peak is what remains of a vast coral atoll and therefore consists of compact dolomitic limestone with numerous karstic caves and fossil deposits. The Adamello, Presanella, Monte Baldo, Monte Rosa, Bernina, Cevedale, Apennine chain and the lakes of Iseo and Garda are visible from its highest point. Monte Guglielmo is not only a tourist destination due to its malghe (alpine farmsteads) and refuges but also a popular destination for sports such as hiking, ski mountaineering and paragliding. In addition, there are numerous trails leading to the mountain.
