From Lumezzane to San Bernardo on foot

Family walk in the mountains of Lumezzane

How to get from Lumezzane Sant’Apollonio to San Bernardo on foot. You can find all the information here, as well as the possibility of downloading the route! The walk is open to everyone as it does not present any technical difficulties.

From Ver in Lumezzane, it is possible to take the CAI Trail no. 367 to San Bernardo. The trail starts just outside the village. At the last bend of the provincial road to Val Sabbia, you will notice a small green space on the right. A small asphalted road, which is shared with trail 368, will take you to  Cocca Matteo (710m) in just a few minutes, where the dense woodland opens up, leading to the Boio reservoir. You will then arrive at Piass dei Grì (661 m) where you will find the modern little church of Uberto (patron saint of hunters) and a picnic area.

Following a dirt road and then a trail, you pass the Castei farmstead, the El Colonel farmstead (895m) and, along a panoramic path over Valle dei Fiori, you arrive at the little church of San Bernardo. The hermitage dates back to 1573 and overlooks a beautiful meadow with centuries-old chestnut trees. Near the church is the Serafino Zani Astronomical Observatory, a cultural meeting place and a centre for educational and scientific activities.
