Sentiero delle Sorgenti e dei Lupi

A typical river valley, Val Saino is crossed by a torrent with an irregular flow. At the springs dominating the valley, you can still see salamanders, frogs, tadpoles, aquatic insects and tracks of wild boars that frequent the area to water. The difficulty of accessing it by car has hindered the cutting of the forest favouring the growth of majestic trees. Hunters and charcoal burners also used the paths in the valley, evidence of which can still be seen in several charcoal kilns, one of which is now used as a demonstration charcoal pit (poiàt). Particularly interesting are the loere, a dialect word for traps used to capture wolves, documented in the area until the end of the 19th century. In the upper section of the trail, several panels provide information and nursery rhymes to learn more about local traditions and legends linked to the wolf.

The Sentiero delle Sorgenti e dei Lupi (Path of Springs and Wolves) is one of the stages of the “Via del Bosco” of the Ecomuseum of Valle Trompia – The Mountain and Industry.
