Parish church of San Zenone

From the main road, a long and stunning staircase in medolo – recently restored – leads to the parish church of San Zenone. Built in 1730 on a pre-existing 16th-century building, the church houses a valuable altarpiece by the Veronese painter Giambettino Cignaroli, depicting “The  Madonna with Child and San Zenone“. The saint in the centre of the altarpiece is kneeling in adoration of the Virgin Mary, while the Child lovingly rests his left hand on the crosier. On the side are a priest and a bishop: the parish priest of Caino, Don Giuseppe Ghedi, and the bishop of Brescia, Cardinal Angelo Maria Querini, patrons of the work and of the entire Church.
